Truth in Postcards & PFF
This postcard is actually this size. And it is a postcard, even thought it looks more like a bookmark. I've come across a couple other postcards this size before. The actual size is 2 1/8" x 6".
This one is from 1908, sent to Scotts Mills, Oregon (current population 355 residents -this has doubled since 1916!) from Roseburg, Oregon.
The greeting says:
I am back in the old place again, have been for little over a month. Have you and Eldon decided to stay where you are or go elsewhere?
I am disgusted with all in general,
J.C.
I love it when I read messages like this. Ones that make you laugh and that you can totally relate to.
I am posting this today to participate in Postcard Friendship Friday, hosted by The Best Hearts are Crunchy. Go to her site and you can see a list of other postcard blogs you can visit today.

Yes, I know the feeling. There are plenty of days when I'm disgusted with all in general, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and so unusual, but the message is quite criptic
ReplyDeleteOh, I do wish there was an explanation about the message. It leaves me wondering what it all meant. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing message
ReplyDeleteThere are many examples of bookmark sized postcards on the "vintage Postcard Forum here:

Ha. What an amusing message. Wonder what he meant. He definitely wasn't a happy camper.

It is certainly a pretty postcard, what makes it (to me) EXTRA special is the wonderfully cryptic message. I'm so glad you included the back side!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy PFF!
I'm off to check out the pictures on my bookmarks (not postcards)just in case I find one as good as yours. There will be no cryptic comments, of that I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI totally believe you, because I recently bought one that size, and it's the first I've ever seen like it. Great post!
ReplyDeleteSuch an expressive hand doesn't strike me as one who was frequently disgusted. Probably reading too much into the handwriting...
ReplyDeleteI suppose there are rules and regulations on the permitted size of postcards these days, which is a pity because there is something quite attractive about this size. And it does double as a bookmark - at least until you get your Kindle,
ReplyDeleteIn some rainy autumns I can relate to this message too. Completely.
ReplyDeleteHa, yes, great message, I to love things like this! Working on a postcard entry here soon myself. I love anything with personal writing that is a little out of the "norm".
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly why the message side is often just as meaningful as the view side. And yes, I can see someone using a card like this back then as a bookmark.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what brought him back to "the old place", leaving him disgusted. A broken heart, or a failed interview?...
ReplyDelete:D~
