Collections

I have been going through all my ephemera collections lately. You wouldn't know it by the quietness on this blog, but I have actually been immersed in my collections of vintage photos, postcards and ephemera.

I've been taking some pics as I discover little collections here and there. Here are some I've discovered. It's funny how you don't realize your collecting something sometimes until you see you've got several of a theme.  I like that.

I was pleased to discover I have a collection of Elephant Valentines.

I'm always attracted to photos of shops. I love to see the merchandise and displays.

This is a selection of the dance cards and dance programs I've collected. 

These photos are photos I've used in zines. They stand out to me amoungst the rest like they have day glo-paint. I am so familiar with them.

fondue cook-in

I just found this old fondue booklet in a box of things I was planning on getting rid of a long time ago, but I think I'll keep it. I actually have a fondue pot now and it's just too charming.  I love the first page with the illustrations by Rebecca Crutchfield and the introduction:

 It sold for $1.00 in 1968. If you want a copy there seem to be quite a few onAmazon.

Some of the recipes: Beef Fondue, Fish Fondue, Swiss Fondue #1 and #2, Gruyere Fondue, Seafood Cheese Fondue and recipes for lots of sauces for the fondues, which I don't quite understand.

This is why I get so little done on the weekends. I start to clean something out and get derailed with scanning and blogging. But, really, how can I not?

Lamb or Tiger?

I think I got both of these years ago when I was in Oakland. I was always curious about both items. I just did some research and learned that there was a well known evangelist named Charles Yatman who was mentioned in a diary from 1892.

There is pencil writing on the back of the sermon card where someone was figuring out some math. It added up to 110.50. I think it is interesting that someone kept this card for so long.

These fellas in the photograph are interesting to me and I wonder how they are affiliated. They seem very disconnected from each other.
