I love lanterns, especially pretty colored paper lanterns, but I also love simple mason jar lanterns, too. I have been meaning to start a Pinterest category for them and now I will that I've finally posted these two lantern images from my collection.
This one below is actually a card. It is super long and short (8" x 2"), but opens and says "A Sunshine Card" on the back. I love it and have had it up on my board for a couple of years.
This postcard below is tinted, probably from around 1900. It was made in Austria. So pretty.

birthday girl
It's my birthday today, so I couldn't let the day go by without posting one of my vintage birthday postcards. This is a real pretty one, more of a card I think, although it's only one side. Unfortunately, nothing is written on the back.I have had a wonderful last couple of days filled with friends, tea parties, vintage stores, autumn drives and good food. I am looking forward to more of the same tonight and tomorrow.
Hope you have a wonderful autumn weekend. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday. Please visit some other postcard blogs that are participating. Follow the link.

birthday bird
From Papa 1908
on the back:
addressed to Wilbur Westervelt, 646 Monroe Ave, City
It kills me when they just put City in for the town's name. I am guessing this would be like someone sending a postcard to Portland from a farm town 60 miles away.
This postcard was made in Germany and is really pretty. The bird is raised and sort of a fuzzy fabric. It must have been so beautiful new. It is in good shape. Someone took care of it for a long time.
I am posting a birthday postcard for The Best Hearts are Crunchy. She hosts the Postcard Friendship Friday and is having a birthday this Monday. Happy Birthday!!
